Lincoln City Bed and Breakfasts

Japanese Fishing Floats

Saki bottles
melted and blown
holding nets
so they don't roam.

Some changed their course
and circled the earth
driven by seas
to find new birth.

Washed and etched
by rope, sea and sand
tide and current
brought here to land.

The Lincoln City beaches are known for the findings of Japanese Fishing Floats along the shore. These days, the city celebrates the year by making one float per year A.D. and placing them on the beaches over the winter and spring months. Just like in days gone by, the new floats are free for the finding.

Lincoln City is a town formed to possess the beach. It is a little over seven miles along the shore and not even 3/4 of a mile wide. The west side of town is the edge of the Pacific Ocean and the east side is the forests of the Oregon Coast Range mountains.

The highway runs along the eastern borders of the Lincoln City so it provides fairly even access to the whole town since most of the town is located between it and the ocean. There are lakes and parks east of the highway and the ocean and parks west of the highway.

This is a good town for a quiet time spent at a bed and breakfast because the day after breakfast can be filled with a smorgasbord of activities such as hiking, kite flying, walking on the beach or hiking. In case of inclement weather, there are also plenty of indoor recreational activities available provided by the Parks Department and private businesses.
